Church Leaders Gather in Abuja for ELIF 2026 Ethical Leadership Training

Leaders Unite for Ethical Leadership

Church leaders, development practitioners, and representatives of Church-Related Organisations (CCROs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) are participating in the Nigeria ELIF 2026 National Training and Advocacy Events in Abuja.

The programme focuses on the theme, “Strengthening Ethical Leadership for National Transformation.” It forms part of ELIF 2026 – Ethical Leadership for an Inclusive Future in Sub-Saharan Africa, a joint initiative of Globethics and the All-Africa Conference of Churches (AACC-CETA).

Building Ethical and Inclusive Institutions

The event is taking place at the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) Divine Love Retreat and Conference Centre (DRACC), Lugbe, Abuja.

The training equips participants with practical leadership skills and ethical values. It also promotes integrity, accountability, transparency, justice, and inclusive governance across churches, faith-based institutions, civil society organisations, and communities.

The Training Event runs from 30 June to 1 July 2026, while the Advocacy Event takes place on 2 July 2026.

CCN Participates

The Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) is represented by The Rt. Revd. Evans Onyemara, Ph.D., CCN General Secretary and Methodist Bishop of Ecumenism, who is leading the delegation to the national programme.

Also participating are church leaders and professionals from different Christian organisations, including Sr. Prisca Happiness Ovat, Medical Missionary of Mary, Abuja.

A Platform for National Transformation

The programme encourages dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among faith leaders and civil society actors. Participants are exploring practical ways to strengthen ethical leadership within their organisations and communities.

They also stressed that Africa needs leaders who demonstrate integrity, servant leadership, accountability, and inclusiveness. Such values, they noted, are essential for building stronger institutions and restoring public trust.

Looking Ahead

As the sessions continue, participants will develop practical strategies for promoting ethical leadership and advancing sustainable national development.

Ultimately, ELIF 2026 seeks to inspire a new generation of leaders committed to justice, peace, good governance, and an inclusive future for Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.
