“Say to the Righteous, It Shall Be Well”: Rt. Rev. Dr. Evans Onyemara Inspires the Church at CAN Public Lecture in Abuja
Abuja, October 30, 2025 —
The National Christian Centre, Garki, Abuja, came alive with spiritual energy and profound reflection as clergy, Christian leaders, and believers gathered for the Public Lecture and Award Ceremony organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT Chapter, with the theme: “Response of the Church to the Menace of Insecurity in the Country.”

The high point of the event was a soul-stirring paper delivered by the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), The Rt. Rev. Dr. M. Evans Onyemara, Ph.D., TFSG, GSJW, titled “Say to the Righteous, That It Shall Be Well with Them” (Isaiah 3:10).
Taking his text from the Book of Isaiah, Bishop Onyemara described the message as “God’s timeless assurance to the faithful amidst turbulence, fear, and national uncertainty.”
He reminded believers that though the times are perilous, the promises of God remain unshaken:
Speaking to the Church’s responsibility amid the growing menace of insecurity, Bishop Onyemara called for unwavering faith and proactive engagement.
“It shall be well — not it might be, not we hope it will be, but it shall be. This is God’s divine guarantee to those who walk uprightly with Him, even in times of adversity.”
He further emphasized that righteousness is not a moral badge of perfection but “a daily walk of faith and obedience anchored in Christ’s grace.”
“The righteous may fall, but they rise again by grace. Their assurance is not in circumstances but in covenant,” he said.

“The Church must not only pray but also speak truth to power, offer hope to the broken, and become a moral compass in a nation struggling for peace,” he urged.
Quoting Romans 8:28, he declared that “God is still at work behind the scenes, turning every crisis into a testimony for those who love Him.”
He concluded his address with a passionate appeal:
“Say to the righteous, fear not, hold on, keep believing. God’s Word stands true: it shall be well.”
Awards of Honour: Faith, Leadership, and Service Recognized
The event also featured a grand Award Ceremony, honouring distinguished personalities who have demonstrated excellence in leadership and service to humanity.
Among the recipients were:
Others honoured included prominent church leaders, clergy, and Christian professionals whose lives reflect faith-driven excellence and integrity.

The atmosphere at the National Christian Centre was filled with renewed conviction as Bishop Onyemara’s message echoed in the hearts of attendees.
He charged the Church not to despair in the face of insecurity, moral decay, or social injustice, but to “stand firm in righteousness, knowing that divine assurance never fails.”
“No matter what storms rage, God’s covenant people can rest in His promise: it shall be well with the righteous,” he concluded, to a standing ovation.

The Public Lecture reaffirmed the Church’s prophetic mandate to engage society with faith, hope, and courage. It also demonstrated the Christian Association of Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to national unity, interdenominational cooperation, and social transformation through faith-based leadership.
The event brought together representatives from across denominational lines, Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, and Catholics, under one spiritual canopy of worship, reflection, and national renewal.
