“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
Waiting seasons test the depth of our faith. Prayers seem delayed. Doors remain closed. Answers feel distant. Yet throughout Scripture, waiting has never meant abandonment—it has always meant preparation.
In Isaiah 40:31, waiting on the Lord is not passive resignation; it is active trust. It is choosing to believe that God is working behind the scenes, even when visible progress is absent. The Hebrew sense of “wait” carries the idea of hopeful expectation—like a cord tightly twisted together, growing stronger under tension.
Many believers ask, “Why is God making me wait?” The truth is, God often develops our character before He delivers the promise. Waiting refines motives, strengthens endurance, and shifts our dependence from outcomes to Him.
Consider the pattern throughout Scripture:
In each case, the waiting season was not wasted—it was formative.
If you are in a waiting season today, remember: delay is not denial. God’s promises are not fragile. His timing is intentional. While you wait, He renews your strength, aligns your heart, and prepares you for what you prayed for.
Faith becomes unshakable not when prayers are instantly answered, but when trust remains steady despite delay.
Faith grows when rooted in Scripture. Meditate daily on God’s promises rather than rehearsing your fears.
Waiting seasons deepen intimacy. Instead of praying only for outcomes, pray for alignment with God’s will.
Gratitude protects your heart from bitterness. Thank God for what He has already done.
Your journey is unique. God’s timing for your life is not measured against someone else’s breakthrough.
Isaiah promises renewed strength—not exhaustion. Waiting with God energizes rather than drains.
Lord, teach me to trust You in this waiting season. When impatience rises, renew my strength. Help me believe that You are working even when I cannot see it. Build unshakable faith in my heart until Your promise comes to pass. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I will trust God in the waiting season. My faith is growing stronger. His promises over my life will come to pass at the appointed time.
