Faith, Unity, and Service: CCN Southeast Zone Holds Grand Inauguration of New Leadership in Enugu.

Spread the love

ENUGU, NIGERIA — September 20, 2025.

It was a moment of divine grace, solemn worship, and renewed commitment to Christian unity as the Southeast Zone of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) held its Grand Installation and Inauguration Ceremony for its newly elected zonal leaders at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Independence Layout, Enugu State.

The historic event marked a new chapter for the Council in the Southeast as Dr. Levi Monanu was formally inaugurated as Chairman and Territorial Envoy, alongside other distinguished officers who will pilot the affairs of the Zone.

A Sacred Mandate for Christian Unity

The colorful inauguration was presided over by the National President of the Christian Council of Nigeria, His Grace, The Most Rev. David Onuoha, and the General Secretary, Rt. Rev. M. Evans Onyemara, PhD, both of whom charged the newly inducted leaders to embrace their divine calling with humility, wisdom, and vision.

In his presidential address, Most Rev. David Onuoha called on the new executives and the entire Christian community in the Southeast to “work tirelessly towards unity, peace, and the holistic development of the member churches.” He emphasized that CCN’s mission transcends denominational boundaries — representing a movement for sweet fellowship, civic responsibility, and collective Christian witness in a divided world.

“Let our unity be stronger than our differences. Let our fellowship be an example of Christ’s love to our nation,” he urged.

🙏 A Call to Service and Holiness

The Bishop of Enugu Diocese (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Prof. Sam Ike, delivered a stirring homily that set the spiritual tone of the day. He reminded the congregation that leadership in the Church is a sacred trust, calling every believer — especially leaders — to live lives of service, holiness, and humility.

“Every position in the body of Christ is a platform for service, not superiority,” Bishop Ike noted. “We are all members of the universal Church and must one day give account before God.”

Moments of Inspiration and Fellowship

The ceremony featured soul-lifting “Songs of Inspiration” by the Salvation Army Church Choir, whose melodies filled the cathedral with joy and reverence. Another highlight was the Keynote Address delivered by The Most Revd. Sosthenes Ikechukwu Eze, PhD, the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of the Diocese of Enugu North (Anglican Communion). He spoke passionately on “Faith as a Catalyst for Unity and Development”, emphasizing that when Christians work together, the nation thrives.

A Vision for Unity and Development

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Levi Monanu, the newly inaugurated Zonal Chairman, expressed deep gratitude to God and appreciation to the CCN national leadership for their confidence in him and his team. He pledged to uphold the Council’s vision of Christian solidarity, social impact, and moral leadership.

“If we stand together,” Dr. Monanu said, “we will not only strengthen the Church but also secure a Southeast where faith inspires unity, unity sustains peace, and peace drives development.”

He called for greater cooperation among member churches and encouraged all Christians to be active participants in both church and civic life.
