The Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) extends its commendation to the leadership of the House of Reps for organizing the recent House of Representatives Interfaith Roundtable in Abuja.
We are heartened by the commitment of Speaker Mr. Abbas Tajudeen, who, speaking through the Deputy Speaker, pledged to combat all forms of religious and racial discrimination in Nigeria.
This roundtable is a vital step toward strengthening national unity. It also protects the constitutional right to freedom of belief.
For too long, the nation has grappled with the devastating consequences of religious intolerance and misinformation. Therefore, this dialogue is a timely and necessary intervention.
From Dialogue to Action

The CCN fully supports the House’s stated goals to:
Hence, this initiative is a powerful reflection of the fact that peace-building must be proactive and rooted in a shared commitment to justice and accountability.
While dialogue is a crucial first step, it must be followed by decisive legislative action. Consequently, we urge the House of Representatives to translate these commendable intentions into tangible laws and policies. These new laws must protect every Nigerian citizen.
Consequently, the CCN, through its vast network, is ready to collaborate with the government. We also want to work with other faith-based organizations. Our goal is to ensure that this House of Representatives Interfaith Roundtable bears fruit. We want Nigeria to truly become a haven of peaceful coexistence for all.
Let us move beyond rhetoric. Let us build a nation where no one is discriminated against—politically, economically, or socially—because of their faith.
