CCN and Act Alliance Launch Flood Rapid Response in Zaria & Kaduna North

The Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) is currently on the ground in Zaria.

We have launched a vital Rapid Response for flood-affected families.

This crucial work is happening in both Kaduna North and Zaria Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Act Alliance is generously supporting this essential effort.

First, the intervention seeks to alleviate immediate suffering. It also aims to restore damaged livelihoods.

Furthermore, we plan to build resilience among vulnerable households impacted by the devastating flood.

The CCN project team recently completed an initial assessment visit. This preparation was key for a successful humanitarian response.

Our focus was on affected households in the two severely impacted LGAs.

Therefore, the project team sought essential local input. The primary goal was to consult with relevant local stakeholders.

This action ensures proper coordination and necessary inclusiveness. We also needed to understand the current local security situation.

Effective planning and implementation rely heavily on this information.

This activity allowed the project team to engage directly with community leaders. These leaders represent the affected areas across both LGAs.

We also sought collaboration from various local sectors. Stakeholders from both LGAs greatly appreciated the Project Team’s presence. They provided valuable input on community mobilization.

In addition, they committed to supporting all planned project activities. This unified support is essential for successful implementation on the ground.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) offered his maximum support. He assured the Project Team of assistance throughout the entire project implementation. The DPO also commended CCN for its prompt action. He recognized the proactive response to the humanitarian needs of the local people.

Subsequently, the Project Team visited several affected communities. The team assessed the actual level of destruction firsthand.

Observations indicated extensive damage across the areas. Houses, shops, and farmlands suffered severe destruction. Other properties were also extensively damaged. The tragic scale of the destruction highlights the urgent need for sustained aid.

CCN is committed to providing comprehensive support. Our ongoing relief effort aims to bring hope back to these communities. We look forward to a successful and impactful implementation phase.
