CCN General Secretary Challenges New Methodist Priests on Church Planting

Following the ordination service for 135 new priests of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Rt. Rev. Evans Onyemara, the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), issued a strong challenge to the newly ordained clergy.

Speaking to the Conference Media, Rt. Rev. Onyemara highlighted the vision of His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, for the church’s numerical growth and expansion across the nation.

The General Secretary emphasized the vital role of the new priests in fulfilling this mandate, stating that the Methodist Church Nigeria’s church planting efforts will now extend to every corner of the country.

He urged the new ministers to embrace their call, declaring, “It is no longer business as usual. Everybody should be able to prove his ministry.”

He reminded the priests that their ordination has equipped them with new authority, symbolized by the scripture, the certificates they received, the imposition of hands, and the cross given to them. “Let them go and make disciples of all men and women,” he charged, encouraging them to maximize their opportunity to serve God.

Rt. Rev. Onyemara concluded with a powerful reminder that their reward comes from God, not from any man. He encouraged them to work diligently “as unto the Lord” and assured them that their efforts in Methodist Church Nigeria church planting would be rewarded in due time.
